A small forest that lives and moves on its own

Garden Story

Mustard, eggplant, and lettuce, grown from seeds since spring, have filled the garden.
Mustard not only clears the nose with its spicy aroma, but is also rich in vitamins A and C, which help boost immunity.
Lettuce is rich in dietary fiber and calcium, which helps keep the body light.
The purple skin of eggplant contains anthocyanin, an antioxidant that helps keep cells healthy.

However, thanks to the seeds that were sown greedily, the plants grew so lushly that no matter how much they ate, they would not grow back.
Eventually, some were pulled out and eaten, and the remaining space was plowed over again, this time planting purple mustard.
Purple mustard is darker in color than green mustard and is richer in anthocyanins, which gives it a greater antioxidant effect.
The taste is a little more bitter and deep, and it adds a pretty color to salads and is good for your health.

When the flower withers, the seeds fall to the ground,
Next spring, it will sprout again from the ground without me having to plant it separately.
Thanks to this, I don't have to buy seedlings, and my garden is full again as if I got the seedlings for free.
The remaining sprouts are shared with neighbors, and in this way, the garden becomes a space for sharing.

I don't use pesticides.
The food waste collected every day is turned into compost and returned to the soil.
But this year, because we expanded the field a bit, we were a little short on compost and soil, so the plants weren't very strong.
Still, it is wonderful and lovely to see the flowers blooming like this and attracting bees and butterflies.

Actually, I just sowed the seeds.
Yet the seed sprouts, blooms, and bears fruit again on its own.
Watching that process makes me realize how amazing life is.

🌱 Small Garden Tips

  • Seed spacing : Don't sow too densely, but leave a little more space between plants to make them strong.
  • Soil management : If you use food waste compost to enrich the soil, the taste and nutrition will improve.
  • Leave flowers : Leaving some flowers alone to attract bees and butterflies will also help pollinate other vegetables.
  • Utilizing seed circulation : The seeds that fall after the flowers have withered will sprout on their own in the spring, so you don't need to buy new seedlings.
  • The joy of sharing : If you share the remaining sprouts and seedlings with your neighbors, everyone will be happy.
