Like water, like rain, and stopping and seeping

A day with rain, a day when the rain never stops, a river, a garden, and cats

The rain that started falling on Friday shows no signs of stopping.
They say New York is in a state of emergency, but luckily where I am, it's just raining quietly without any damage.

Because of the rain that has been continuing for several days, I can't even go to the mountain.
But maybe it's because it's a rare rain The cold wind and rain are so refreshing.

When I open the window, I feel strangely calm even in the humid air.

After finishing the housework that had piled up, I felt bored for no reason.
I was thinking of buying some ginger before winter comes.
I decided to go outside and get some fresh air.

I stopped by Edgewater Whole Foods, picked up some ginger powder, and browsed the store.
Maybe it's because the economy isn't doing well these days It was noticeable that the prices of goods had risen significantly compared to before.
There were also far fewer people than before.

I walked past Whole Foods toward the Hudson River.
The water level, which was low just a few days ago, was much higher today.

The river flows and overflows under the gray sky,
The once calm riverbank seemed to come alive with the rain and wind. 🌧️

The city in the distance was hazy like fog,
The buildings across the river were half-hidden in clouds.
Instead of the sparkle of a clear day, the Hudson River today was filled with a gray stillness.

The sound of waves gently crashing, the damp air, and the branches swaying in the wind.
All of that somehow made me feel a little more relaxed.

I took a few pictures and stood there for a while.
The feeling of time passing slowly, and the sound of raindrops spreading across the water.

Although the rain is inconvenient, it also creates a scenery that makes you stop and look at it.

When I returned home, I suddenly thought of my backyard garden.
I was wondering if the seeds I sowed last week were growing well thanks to the rain.
I tried to wait until the rain stopped, but I don't usually use an umbrella even when it rains.

If it's just a light drizzle, I'm comfortable with just getting wet, and I don't hate the feeling of the rain touching my skin.

When I went out into the backyard, the air felt different.
The smell of wet earth, the scent of grass, and even the sound of water drops rustling —
It felt like the whole world was breathing slowly.

Perhaps because the wind and rain were blowing hard, a few perilla leaves had fallen.
The tomato plant looked a little cold with wet leaves.
The perilla leaves were drooping their heads, soaking up the water.

Perhaps because the temperature has dropped, the green color has faded and the edges have begun to turn brown.
Like little leaves falling, I felt like the seasons were slowly changing.

As I entered the house, Rio was looking at me from afar.
This child is cautious by nature, so he doesn't usually come out to greet people first.
I check to see who is coming, and only when I know it is me, do I sneak up and rub my body against them.

Luna is the opposite.
She is Rio's older sister, and she always sees the world from a distance.
They are the same age, but Rio is much bigger —
Maybe it's because he's a man, or maybe he's just more affectionate, but he always sticks by my side.
Luna only approaches quietly when her brother is not around.

It makes me smile to think that even that distance is their own way. 🐾

I like rain.
Rain always seems to give birth to life.
Every time it rains, the soil breathes and sprouts sprout from it.

That's why I always feel grateful when it rains.
Rain doesn't just moisten the ground; it also seems to hydrate our bodies and minds. 🌧️

I remember the last time I went to the mountains, the bottom of the New Jersey waterworks was exposed.
The water level must have risen a lot due to this rain.
Just as the water level in the Hudson River at Edgewater rose.

In this way, nature quietly maintains its place, regaining its own balance.
Things made by humans may seem more flashy and convenient on the outside,
Ultimately, everything moves within the natural order.

I think that understanding that order without going against it is the greatest wisdom.

Like today's rain,
Perhaps we too are beings who sometimes need to stop, absorb ourselves, and live quietly. 🌿
